  • Los Angeles Ballet Featured in Dance Magazine - August 2010 Issue | Los Angeles Ballet

Los Angeles Ballet Featured in Dance Magazine - August 2010 Issue August 1, 2010 Chehon Wespi-Tschopp was an intense Hilarion, a villager also in love with Giselle. His prestissimo spins to his death at the hands of the Wilis were terrific. The company tours the greater LA area each season, performing at Glendale's Alex Theatre Performing Arts & Entertainment Center, Royce Hall at UCLA Live, the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, The Broad Stage in Santa Monica, and-new this season-the Richard & Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach and the Valley Performing Arts Center in Northridge. "It's important we establish [ourselves in] LA first, before we tour anywhere else," says Christensen. The Nutcracker, this season's festive opening ballet, is "very important to present around the holidays," says Neary. "Kids love it; the dancers love it, and so do we." Membership at both levels is critical to the health of LAB because the Guild provides a vital link between Los Angeles Ballet leadership and the broader Southern California community. By its nature, the Guild is philanthropic, creative, entrepreneurial, and industrious. We invite you to learn about the functions of these Guild branches and become involved. Patron Level $1250 Membership at the Patron Level is offered when giving a meaningful gift of $1,000 or more. In appreciation, Patrons are provided special entry for two performances and a rehearsal, as well as early invitation to all events. Patrons and Patron prospects will receive an exclusive invitation to a Champagne Reception before the dress rehearsal of The Nutcracker with Los Angeles Ballet Orchestra at Dolby Theatre. Patrons of the Guild was re-titled in 2019 to expand opportunity for all lovers and supporters of professional ballet. Patrons members recognize the special function of arts programming in defining the character of our great city and in providing uplifting experiences for the underserved communities across Los Angeles. No longer by invitation-only, all are welcome! Impresario Level $2500 In addition to the deliverables of Patron Level (above), Impresario Level Patrons will be invited as guests of the LAB Board of Advisors to an exclusive luncheon and Season discussion. Patrons of the Guild Corps de Guild Corps de Guild is the volunteer arm of the Los Angeles Ballet Guild . As the corps de ballet is the ‘body,’ or ‘core’ of a ballet company, so is Corps de Guild to Los Angeles Ballet. Guild members provide invaluable support for Los Angeles Ballet performances, such as critical front-of-house assistance with concessions and boutique, volunteering for Nutcracker Tea, LAB Gala, and in-office clerical activities. As LAB tours Los Angeles, Corps de Guild members make a commitment to volunteer for three shifts per season. As a show of gratitude, each Guild member may request two complimentary tickets to one performance of his or her choice per season (subject to availability). We invite you to take an active part in making this Season a huge success through membership in Los Angeles Ballet Guild , and by encouraging your friends to join with you. Thank you for your interest and consideration! For further information on Guild Membership.
